It happens so fast..

I took this last week and just got around to looking at them. When I saw this, I practically fell out of my chair. How does this happen so fast? Everyone has those moments when they see a picture of their kids and they think.."When did you grow up? Weren't you just a baby a few days ago?" I've had this moment MANY times..and especially with my daughter. She's just like me. Her personality. Her tomboyish ways. Her looks. Even her sometimes sassy side is like me. When I saw this photo..I was shocked. Stunned. Completely silent. You know..when everything around you just stops..and you feel like you're stuck staring at yourself in the mirror. That is what this one did for me. I saw her, and I saw me. And it blew me away. She's growing up too fast, and wanting that extra independence from me. She's wanting to fly just a little bit farther from my reach. And, I want her to. Then I don't. Then I do. It's this little game I play in my head. Every parent goes through this, right? The tug-of-war inside their mind about facing the reality that their kids are growing up? (Right?) I just wish it wasn't so soon, or so fast..and that it took much longer than it already has. There's a song called, "Let them be little" by Billy Dean. Every time I hear it, I can't help but think of me and my not so little baby girl..

I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand.
You felt so good in it; no bigger than a minute.
How it amazes me you're changin' with every blink.
Faster than a flower blooms, they grow up all too soon.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give 'em hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

I never felt so much in one little tender touch.
I live for those kisses, your prayers an' your wishes.
An' now you're teachin' me how only a child can see.
Tonight, while we're on our knees, all I ask is:

Please, let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

The so innocent, precious soul:
You turn around, an' it's time to let them go.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give 'em praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let them sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

Let them be little

Happy Friday everyone..
Until next time...
